Who it’s for, and how to use it
For freelancers and 1099 contractors who keep their records in a spreadsheet and want the totals without writing formulas. It pairs with the Tax Packet if you like paper for some things and a screen for others.
Open the .xlsx in Excel, or import it into Google Sheets. Type only in the yellow cells; the slate cells calculate. Enter each payment on the income log, each purchase on the expense log under a common category, and each business trip on the mileage log. The mileage rate cells are editable on purpose: enter the rates your preparer confirms. The quarterly sheet is a planning worksheet for setting money aside, not a tax calculation. The 1099 tracker keeps forms issued to you and forms you issue in separate tables, and the summary dashboard brings the year-to-date totals together on one screen.
